The BJP has expressed confidence of winning back its former block, youth, mahila and booth committees in Canacona constituency to work for the success of the party candidate, Vijay Poi Khot.
Addressing media persons on Monday, BJP District (South) president Sarvanand Bhagat said most of the block and booth level leaderships would return to the party and work for their candidate.
“Our karyakartas are already back on the mission of our party’s commitment not only to canvas, but also to reach each house. Since the ticket allotment, a lot has changed and many unhappy workers are already back in the fold,” Bhagat said.
“In the 2012 assembly polls, the BJP candidate got a lead of over 2,700 votes, while that lead rose to 5,945 in the 2012 Lok Sabha polls. In this assembly election, we will get a lead of 6,500 votes, as our network has increased with better coordination under the leadership of our candidate Vijay Poi Khot.”
Bhagat further said BJP badly needed the Canacona seat, especially since history had shown that a defeated MLA was never elected again in Canacona constituency.
Refusing to credit former BJP MLA and rebel candidate Ramesh Tawadkar for the development in Canacona during the last five years under BJP rule, Bhagat added, “BJP never goes on the basis of individual leaders, but credit of what has been achieved by a MLA or minister or even chief minister and to the extent of prime minister goes to the party and not to the leader.”
Loliem-Polem Sarpanch Bhushan Prabhugaonkar said he would wholeheartedly give the credit to his party. “I am a loyal soldier and continue to remain so, no matter what rebel leader thinks of me,” he said.
Poinguinim Sarpanch Vallabh Tengse, Deputy Sarpanch Archana Painginkar, Arun Bhat, Yuva Sangh president Pankaj NaikGaunkar and Suraj Naikgaukar were also present.

Only BJP can gain from breakaway section
CANACONA: Stating that neither Congress candidate Isidore Fernandes nor anyone else, including rebel Ramesh Tawadkar, would benefit by the mass revolt in Canacona BJP, District (South) president Sarvanand Bhagat said the situation would change within the next two days.
“All our leaders and karyakartas, who are still supporting an independent candidate, are going to realize their folly and will be back in party fold at the right time. Our dedicate karyakartas will soon realize that working for an individual and for a party are two different things and they will be back in the party,” said Bhagat.
