Former Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, still sulking from being slighted by the BJP state leadership over the induction of his political rival Dayanand Sopte into the BJP without his consent, stayed away from the BJP core committee meeting with ailing Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday.
Members of the BJP core committee called on Parrikar, a meeting which BJP General Secretary Sadanand Shet Tanavade said was an informal one. Core team members Damodar Naik, Dattaprasad Kholkar, Rajendra Arlekar and Sadanand Shet Tanavade were present for the meeting.
“We came to meet Parrikar. There was no discussion. We met him, talked to him and left. CM is very well... in best condition. We chatted with him,” Tanavde said.
The meeting was held at Parrikar’s private residence at Dona Paula and attended by the BJP core committee members except Parsekar and the three Members of Parliament who were away in Delhi.
Speaking to reporters, Parsekar has claimed that there is no point in attending the meetings as the party has persistently ignored him.
