The BJP has firmly set its eyes on Cuncolim, the constituency represented by Leader of Opposition, Yuri Alemao.
At the Karyakarta Melava meeting of Cuncolim constituency on Friday evening, former South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar said that Cuncolim had made history in the 2012 Assembly election when the Lotus had bloomed in the constituency for the first time. “The party had won the Cuncolim seat due to the hard work put in by the party cadre. The same cadre has a responsibility now to see the Lotus bloom in Cuncolim in the 2027 Assembly election,” Sawaikar said.
In his address, ex-Cuncolim MLA Clafacio Dias said he had ushered development works in Cuncolim during the last term with the help of the government. “We have not seen much development in Cuncolim in the last three years. The party had lost the Cuncolim seat because the party did not put up a united stand in the elections,” he said.
The former Cuncolim MLA has further credited the double-engine BJP government for ushering development across the State. “People now can reach Panaji from Cuncolim within minutes after taking the western bypass. There was opposition for the western bypass, but people have now seen how the bypass has helped to travel to Panaji in minutes,” he added.
Ex-Dy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar urged the party workers to gear up for the coming Zilla Panchayat and Municipal polls. BJP State president Damu Naik and Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Tanavade addressed the party karyakartas and guided them to go to the people with the achievements of the BJP-led government at the Centre and in Goa.
