The BJP on Saturday took to reminding the people of Goa about PM Narendra Modi’s national security record. In a press conference addressed by national BJP vice-president Avinash Rai Khanna, reminded about India’s “retaliation” to the Pulwama terror attack.
Khanna said that while in 2014, the BJP had contested the Lok Sabha Elections in Modi’s name, the 2019 elections were being fought in his name, and in the work he had done over the past five years.
Khanna reiterated that the Congress’ national manifesto would only weaken the country’s security, as it wanted to do dilute the sedition law (brought in by the British), and the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA). He further said that during the UPA government, everyday there were new scams in the news, while during the regime of the NDA government, everyday there are new schemes in the news. “The difference between the UPA’s 10 years and the NDA’s five years is vast,” said Khanna.
“After the Mumbai attacks in 2008, Pakistan was celebrating that they had attacked India. But after the Pulwama blasts, Pakistan was scared wondering how India would retaliate,” he said. Going on to talk about the schemes of the NDA government, Khanna said, “As far as the schemes are concerned, our schemes are focused on ‘sabka sath sabka vikaas.’ Not a single scheme was meant to appease a religion or community, and we fulfilled our promises.”
The national vice-president said that in J&K and Tripura, the seats that have already gone to polls suggest that the people want Modi as PM again. “We have a decisive leadership with a good track record, a clean image, and clean intentions. We will win both the Lok Sabha seats in Goa,” he said. Meanwhile, when asked about the resumption of mining, Khanna said, “I assure you that we will work within the law to resolve the issue.”
