Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday said his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has begun penetrating in regions hitherto politically inimical to it and cited the win in Navelim in the recent assembly elections.

Sawant was speaking to the media outside a resort at Divar island where the party is holding a three-day State level training workshop for its MLAs, ministers and State leaders and office bearers.

Sawant said, the party was getting enthusiastic response from the people across Goa and there was no question of anymore that the party will be unable to gain the sympathy and support of any specific section of Goans.

To a question, Sawant said even in Salcete several of the party's workers had won in the recent panchayat elections and there was no longer any need for his party to design any 'Mission Salcete' to win the South Goa parliamentary seat in 2024.

"We will win the South Goa seat 100 per cent," Sawant said, adding that there was no need of any 'Mission Salcete' anymore.

The Catholic-dominated Salcete taluka which accounts for the maximum number of eight assembly segments, has traditionally voted against the BJP and was sought to be won over by the late Manohar Parrikar through his much-touted but partially successful 'Mission Salcete'.

"Earlier we could win only Margao and Fatorda. Now we have made history by winning in Navelim," Sawant said, adding that the party is preparing to "penetrate" politically in the entire State.

Apart from Sawant, North Goa MP and Union minister Shripad Naik, the party's Central leader and Goa incharge C T Ravi, BJP State president, Sadanand Tanavade among others addressed the workshop.

The BJP's national general secretary B L Santosh will attend the concluding session of the workshop in which over 15 sessions will be held covering governance, party organisational matters and innovative ways of how to win elections.
