Naik has released a single-point manifesto exclusive for Camrabhat area, which has nearly a thousand registered voters.
As per the manifesto, each housing unit would be of 60-square metre area, that would be equivalent to a 1BHK flat. Additionally, there would be a play area and a high school for children and parking area too. The manifesto also promises a business zone to be set up in Camrabhat for creating job opportunities.
According to builders, the cost of construction in the Camrabhat area would be approximately Rs 25,000 per square metre. Considering this cost, the entire housing project would approximately cost Rs 45 crore.
Speaking to The Goan about the rehabilitation of residents in Camrabhat, Naik informed that presently there are over 180 families living in this slum-like area. Nonetheless, he also pointed out that there are 960 registered voters.
“For several years, people have been living in this area in the same condition. Nobody has bothered to even think about their rehabilitation. I plan to implement it through Goa Rehabilitation Board. I have merely conceptualised and proposed it in my manifesto," said Naik further adding, 'Presently, the houses there are spread horizontally covering a huge area. I plan to do it vertically so that we could plan employment avenues there'.
Nonetheless, he also informed that a detailed plan would be worked out prior to setting up of the project so that the resident would not be able to sell or lease out the housing unit to a third party.
He also informed about setting up a state-of-the-art market complex to cater to the entire Taleigao constituency.
“This will help in creating employment opportunities for Camrabhatcars as well as residents of other parts of Taleigao. There are several vegetable growers as well as fishermen living in Taleigao. They can set up their businesses here," he said.
