Hoping for a triple split in votes between BJP candidate Vijay Poi Khot, rebel candidate Ramesh Tawadkar and former partner MGP's candidate Gourish Bandekar, Congress candidate and former minister Isidore Fernandes has stepped up his campaign in Canacona constituency.
Isidore began his second round of interactions with the electorate by holding many corner meetings in the constituency.
On Saturday, Isidore conducted as many as 15 corner meetings in all seven wards of Agonda village. In the bigger wards like Karashirmoll, Isidore conducted three corner meetings and he received the support of former BJP worker Remy Borges, who joined Isidore's team and canvassed for Congress.
Borges had been a loyal BJP work during the last three elections and was even rewarded by the BJP government with the appointment of director at the Goa Horticulture Corporation (GHC). He was, however, dropped from GHC six months ago after reportedly falling out with Tawadkar.
During his visit to Agonda village, locals brought to the notice of Isidore about erratic water and power supply.
Unlike the 2012 polls, Isidore has been campaigning with a limited number of supporters and visits homes accompanied by a panch or a prominent person in the locality.
Isidore's campaign team includes Canacona Congress block president Elvis Fernandes, ex-youth president Sanju Naik, ex-ZP member Daya Pagui, Janardhan Bhandari, Mahadev Desai and Congress youth leader Shubam Komarpant.
