Saying that the Congress and BJP leaders need to be sent to jail instead of the Goa Legislative Assembly, United Goans Democratic Party secretary general Anacleto Viegas has said the UGDP workers will support Aam Aadmi Party candidates in the coming election, as he demanded that an ordinance be issued by the government to legalise dhirio on lines of Jallikattu in Tamil Nadu.
He further asserted that the UGDP has nothing to do with the United Goans Party, adding that Goa will be ruined if three MLAs are re-elected again, one from Salcete, in the coming election.
Addressing the media, Anacleto alerted the Goan votes to be cautious about the promises made by the Congress and BJP, saying both the parties are two sides of the same coin. He said that AAP has unveiled a programme and a plan of action for Goa and the party candidates need to be given a chance to prove their capability. “We have tried people from both the Congress and the BJP, but they have been found wanting. They have done nothing for the people of Goa over the years," he lamented.
On the banned dhirio, Anacleto told the media in the presence of the Bull Fight Owners Association that the dhirio are not bull fights but bull butting games. “Dhirio or the Jallikattu in Tamil Nadu represents the culture of the people of a particular State. That’s the reason why lakhs of people descended on the Marina beach at Tamil Nadu to demand ordinance on Jallikattu," he added.
