BJP retains 13 panchayats

The BJP has retained 13 out of the 16 panchayats in Bicholim taluka. rnMahesh Sawant, deputy sarpanch of Karapur-Sarvan Panchayat, which is in Mayem constituency claimed that their panchayat is backed by the Congress party.

Mulgao and Sal panchayats in Bicholim constituency have clear majority of BJP members, while Menkurem and Latambarcem panchayats in Bicholim taluka is under the leadership of former Bicholim MLA Naresh Sawal, as both these panchayats have sarpanchas and deputy from the Sawal’s panel.  
Mayem MLA Pravin Zantye said all the six panchayats including Karapur-Sarvan, Mayem-Vaiginim, Narvem, Ona-Maulingem-Kuchirem, Pilgao and Shirgao have been headed by his panels.  
However, Karapur-Sarvan panch, Mahesh Sawant has claimed that Karapur-Sarvan Panchayat has been headed by the Congress.  
Amona, Kudnem, Navelim, Surla and Velguem panchayats are backed by the BJP.  Dr Pramod Sawant said Amona, Kudnem, Navelim, Surla and Velguem panchayats belong to his group.  Pale-Kothambi Panchayat will be an independent panchayat, informed Dy Sarpanch Shamba Gauns.  
Meanwhile, extension officer from Bicholim BDO, Suryajirao Rane said election was held for sarpancha’s post in Pale-Kothambi and for deputy sarpancha’s post in Karapur-Sarvan panchayat.  
At Pale-Kothambi, sarpanch Mohini Vaovoikar polled 5 votes, while her opponent Prashila Gawade polled 4 votes in the nine-member panchayat, while in Karapur-Sarvan, deputy sarpanch Damodar Ghadi got 7 votes, while his opponent Mahesh Sawant polled 4 votes in the 11-member panchayat.  
Extension officer from Bicholim BDO, Suryajirao Rane handled the entire election process under guidance of BDO Shrikant Pednekar.

There is a clear legal infirmity and the minutes cannot be confirmed.
