Contrary to expectations that the local BJP cadre will lie low in Fatorda so as not to antagonize the TCP Minister in the scheme of things, party block president Arun Faldesai was point blank in saying that while the government would work in its area of operation, the party workers are clear on their brief in strengthening the organization and fulfilling the aspirations of the people. rAnd, he was categorical in saying that there cannot be any question wherein the party state leadership has at any time issued any diktat to the Fatorda block to lie low or stop the party work against the backdrop of Vijai Sardesai joining hands with the BJP to form the coalition government. “That question does not arise at all. While the government is working in its sphere of operation, the party workers in Fatorda are working at the block level. Our party activities have been continuing at the Fatorda block irrespective of the political developments,” Arun sought to dish out the impression, reiterating that government work is different from party work. rTwo-time former MLA Damu Naik also asserted that there’s no question of slowing down the party work in Fatorda against the backdrop of archrival Sardesai shaking hands with the party state leadership. “I have been attending people regularly both at my residence as well as at the district office. Today, I visited the district office and attended to the public grievances. The question that the state party leadership has sent instructions to the Fatorda block to slow down its operations does not arise at all,” Damu said. rDamu said he is at the service of the BJP, where he has been a member for years together. “I have held various positions in the BJP. If the party wants me to play any other role, I will not shirk any responsibility,” Damu added.
