Confident that the ‘lotus’ will blossom in both constituencies of the State at the Lok Sabha polls, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant admitted that the candidate’s name cannot be announced immediately due to some restrictions but said the candidate wholeheartedly supported by the people would get the BJP ticket.

He was addressing the party workers after inaugurating the BJP North Goa election office for the Lok Sabha election in Mapusa on Wednesday. Others present on the occasion included BJP State President Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Union Minister Shripad Naik, Deputy Speaker Joshua D’Souza, North Goa BJP ministers, MLAs, former legislators and other leaders.

“Lotus will bloom again this time in both North and South Goa Lok Sabha constituencies. We cannot declare the names of candidates for certain restrictions, but the candidate wholeheartedly supported by the people will get the BJP ticket,” said Sawant.

Stating that the nation is experiencing a BJP wave in a major way, Sawant said the Congress biggies are entering into the BJP, as they have understood that Congress has no future. “Nobody is stepping forward to accept the North Goa Congress candidature. People in North Goa are supporting the BJP in big way. The Congress leaders are of the opinion that it is better not to contest elections, than getting defeated with a margin of 1.5 lakh plus votes,” said the CM.

The chief minister claimed that in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, BJP would win 370-plus seats and would emerge as a single major party, while the NDA would get 400-plus seats.

“The BJP candidate will get 1.5 lakh-plus votes in the North Goa constituency, and 60,000-plus votes in the South Goa constituency,” stated Sawant.

Sawant further asserted that people’s support is of utmost importance for making the nation ‘Vishwaguru’.

“Because of the double engine government of the BJP, Goa could witness infrastructural facilities worth Rs 30,000 crore in the past 10 years, including the international airport at Mopa, widening of the National Highway, Atal Setu, Zuari Bridge, etc. which are prominent developmental works,” said Sawant.

BJP State President Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Union Minister Shripad Naik, ministers Rohan Khaunte and Nilkanth Halarnkar, Deputy Speaker Joshua D’Souza, Calangute MLA Michael Lobo and Saligao MLA Kedar Naik also spoke on the occasion.
