BJP to mediate between Tawadkar and Gaude, says Tanavade

MARGAO

As corruption allegations leveled by Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar against Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude have left the BJP red-faced, BJP state unit President and Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Tanavade said the party would bring both Tanavade and Gaude together within a day or two to find out their grievances.

Tanavade, addressing the media at the South Goa BJP office on Saturday, mentioned that he has returned from Delhi only late last night and has not received details of the allegations leveled by the Speaker.

“We have called for a meeting of the two leaders and will try to resolve the issue,” he said.

When asked if this is perhaps the first time that an Assembly Speaker has made serious allegations against a Minister, Tanavade said he will also ask the Chief Minister to call Tawadkar and Gaude to find out the problem and resolve the issue.

“The Chief Minister will hold a meeting with the two leaders in a day or two to address the issue,” he said.

Meanwhile, Tanavade has stated that the party has given the local leadership the nod to admit leaders and workers into the party who will not claim a ticket to contest elections.

“If there are any leaders or workers who intend to contest the elections, their application will be forwarded to the High Command for a decision,” he said.

On the demand to scrap the EVMs, the BJP state president said the Congress has no fixed stand on the EVMs, stating that the Congress was silent when the party won the elections in Karnataka and Telangana, but certain leaders have demanded scrapping of EVMs after the party lost badly in other states.
