BJP will get over 90% Hindu votes in Canacona: Tawadkar

CANACONA

Reacting to opposition taunts that they would garner 70% of votes polled against the BJP candidate in the last Assembly elections, Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar said BJP will get over 90% Hindu votes in Canacona, which would give a befitting reply to the INDIA bloc.

Tawadkar was speaking at a corner meeting at Rajbhag-Canacona to campaign for BJP’s South Goa candidate Pallavi Dempo on Monday.

In the last assembly elections, Tawadkar won comfortably but secured only 9063 votes, which was about 30 percent of the votes polled, while 70 percent of the votes had been polled by candidates of the opposition party, including Congress, TMC, AAP, RGP, and three independents including two candidates, ex-minister Isidore Fernandes and ex-Canacona MLA Vijay Pai Khot.

Interestingly, Tawadkar has assured a 10,000-vote lead for BJP’s candidate Pallavi Dempo in the Canacona assembly segment.
