Rane, who was told to remain present at Bicholim Police station at 5 pm, reported right on time and later he was interrogated for over two hours behind closed doors. DySP Ramesh Gaonkar and Valpoi Police Inspector Deepak Pednekar interrogated Rane.
Speaking to reporters after the interrogation, DySP Ramesh Gaonkar informed that Rane answered all the queries. “During interrogation, Vishwajeet Rane also informed that he had sacked the driver, Ajay Ardalkar as he was taking undue advantage of his name during election,” stated DySP Gaonkar.
“Rane said he was innocent and he has been simply dragged in the case by some people,” added DySP Gaonkar. Speaking to reporters after the interrogation, Vishwajeet K Rane said he want the case to be thoroughly interrogated so that truth comes out before the public. “I will fully co-operate with the police in this regard,” he said. It may be recalled that Ajay Ardalkar, the former driver of Poriem’s BJP candidate Vishwajeet K Rane, had alleged that Vishwajeet had murdered Shanu at a bar in Honda in retaliation, after strongly believing that Shanu had murdered his brother, Pritviraj Rane, in 2005.
