The Transport Department on Tuesday issued a public notice inviting applications for a Contract Carriage Permit, from those applicants only who had earlier applied for starting cab service at Manohar International Airport in Mopa.
The notice by the Assistant Director of Transport (Pernem) states that applications will be accepted from June 9 to June 15. “Applications are invited in P.Co.P.A form prescribed under Goa Motor Vehicle rule 1991, from the period June 9, 2023 to June 15, 2023 during the working hours in the O/o The Assistant Director of Transport, Pernem,” it said.
The department further said that applications will be accepted from the individuals who have previously submitted duly filled forms in response to the public notice published by the Directorate of Transport in the newspapers on January 5, 2023.
Among these applications, priority will be given to applicants who own vehicles at the time of submission of the application.
The department’s previous notice invited applications from Pernem locals, who are interested in joining the prepaid blue airport taxi with a notified stand; and proposed an amendment for blue colour airport taxis with identical terms and conditions to yellow-black taxis.
As per the notice, the applications in prescribed proforma along with supporting documents were to be submitted to the office of the Assistant Director of Transport at Pernem within the allotted time period.
The department emphasized that unemployed youth and Mopa airport-project-affected persons will be given first preference to start their taxi business.
Even those in possession of vehicles will be given preference.
The taxi operators, opposing the app-based cab services at Mopa, were assured of a special pre-paid taxi counter for Pernem locals to operate alongside the app-based cabs “ Goa Taxi App and Goa Miles.
