Eight tourists were rescued by Drishti lifesavers when their boat capsized after being hit by a wave. The incident occurred on the afternoon of November 11 at Keri.
At about 12.50hrs at Keri, a water sports boat carrying a group of eight tourists toppled into the waters with the impact of an oncoming wave. The tourists panicked and started waving and calling out for help. The lifesavers on duty Vikram Talkar and Dhaku Talkar who were observing the coastline, immediately relayed a rescue call and both rushed to the spot along with rescue equipment.
The victims were secured to the board and rescue tube and brought to shore safely, one at a time. Vikram and Dhaku made several trips to rescue the tourists. Two victims who were injured were given first aid.
