Continuing the probe in youth’s dead body goof-up case the Goa police crime branch officials on Thursday questioned Goa Medical Colleges Forensic Medicine and Toxicology departments’ junior technician Machindranath Jalmi. Earlier on Wednesday, officials questioned the Head of the department Dr Edmundo J Rodrigues for around 5 hours.
The questioning in this case will follow tomorrow.
GMC administration has already suspended Dr Edmundo Rodrigues, Jalmi and postmortem attendant Prakash Narvekar for holding them allegedly responsible for disposing the body of 24 year youth Januz Gonsalves from Aldona instead of an unclaimed body.
Meanwhile, the Chief Secretary has taken the statement of these three officials as part of an administrative inquiry procedure.
The Crime Branch had started probing this case after Director General of Police (DGP) Dr Muktesh Chander had transferred it to them. The case was initially registered at the Agassaim police station.
Two separate complaints were lodged with the Agassaim police on September 29 over the serious lapses by the GMC staff that led to the cremation of the body of Gonsalves, who had passed away on September 23.
