A book on the late Alfred Rose entitled “Alfred Rose: The King of Melody” was released on Wednesday at the Directorate of Art and Culture, Patto. The book, authored by Isidore Dantas, was released by the Minister for Art and Culture Govind Gaude, Secretary for Art and Culture Chokha Ram Garg, and Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza. Rose’s wife, noted tiatrist and singer Rita Rose was a special invitee, while tiatrist Tomazinho Cardozo spoke about the book.
Speaking at the release, Cardozo said that the book was an acknowledgement by the Goa government of the contributions of Alfred Rose. Cardoso also spoke of the many first-time records set by Rose. He made a mention of how Rose was not only the first, but the only Konkani singer to be featured on Radio Ceylon.
Rose, a famous tiatrists with thousands of musical compositions to his credit as well, passed away in 2003. He was known as the melody king of Goa.
