Stating that State government wants Goan students to get the best of the education, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has said three universities have already conveyed their willingness to set up their establishments in the State.
Addressing a gathering at Porvorim at a function organised by Vidya Prabodhan Shikshan Sanstha to lay the foundation stone of their new school building, Sawant emphasised the importance of educational infrastructure for students who will grow to be pillars of society.
Sawant said the State government wants to introduce skilled education in the school curriculum and to provide technical education to students while implementing the New Education Policy.
“The education department has decided to introduce coding and robotics subjects in the school curriculum from Std 6 onwards. These subjects are aimed at guiding and preparing students to solve problems, think critically, work creatively, and function in a digital and information-driven world.”
“Master trainers are being provided training presently and later teachers will be trained in coding and robotics.”
“The Goa Government has passed the Goa Private University Bill and three universities have already conveyed willingness to set up establishments in Goa. The government wants to provide Goans students with the best of education,” said Sawant.
Shiroda MLA and Goa Housing Board Chairman Subhash Shirodkar said educational institutions should endeavour to provide quality education to students.
“This is possible if teachers carry out their duties with honesty and devotion. The State government should also promote science and technology so that more technocrats are produced in the State,” said Shirodkar.
Earlier, Minister of State for Tourism Shripad Naik laid the foundation stone for the new building of the Prabhodan Education Society and unveiled the plaque in the presence of Shirodkar and others.
Chairman of Prabhodan Education Society Sanjay Walavalkar and VPSS Executive Member Rajkumar Desai also spoke on the occasion.
Others present at the function included Penha De Franca Sapanch Sandip Vazarkar, former speaker Ulhas Asnodkar, VPSS Manager Datta Naik and TJS Bank Manager Vivekanand Patki.

PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday said education should be coupled with morals and values.
“Here is an area we have to focus upon and parents and teachers in particular have a great responsibility to work in this direction, which will help to create a well-cultured society.” “If we intend to build a building for hundred years, we also need to work towards creating better society for years to come,” said Sawant.
