Booster for Quepem tourism; Paliencar assures funds

WRD Minister Vinoda Paliencar on Tuesday assured to allot funds to develop tourism-related projects in Quepem constituency and also assured full cooperation to Opposition Leader and Quepem MLA Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar.

Paliencar laid foundation stone for the retaining wall on the banks of Kushawati river at Quepem.   
Speaking further, Paliencar said he would extend his full support to Kavlekar in taking up development work in Quepem constituency. He assured to allot partial funds from his department to develop tourism-related projects like beautification of Quepem coastal beaches, fort, etc.   
Speaking on the occasion, Kavlekar said he tried to bring various development projects like new Quepem-Balli primary hospital, JICA project, sports complex and some projects are in the pipeline.   
“Whatever development I have carried out in my constituency is with the help of Quepem people and without any politics.”   
Informing about the retaining wall project, he said the project will start soon and the work will be taken up phase-wise which means initially phase work of Rs 48 lakh will start and subsequently other remaining work will be completed.   
He said the retaining wall will help to protect the river bank from soil erosion and landslide during heavy monsoon.   
Councillor Paulo Fernandes and Kavlekar’s supporters were present for the function.   
Later, Palyekar, Kavlekar, Goa Forward spokesperson Durgadas Kamat, WRD officials and others inspected the site where the retaining wall will be built. Earlier, Quepem Municipal Council Chairperson Raul Pereira welcomed the guests.

CRZ violation: GCZMA axe falls on Curtorim dance floor
