The Borim gram sabha on Sunday resolved to make it mandatory for all new buildings coming up in its jurisdiction to have its own disposal system for wet garbage.
The gram sabha, presided by Sarpanch Bhavana Naik, discussed various issues pertaining to cleanliness and overall development. Secretary Prasad Naik was also present.
Panch Sunil Sawkar informed the villagers that they have decided to be very strict while issuing NOCs for building projects to eradicate the problem of wet garbage.
“We will not issue NOCs if they don’t make provision to dispose wet garbage. Presently, buildings have no provision for this and many flat owners are throwing the garbage along the road side. Hence, we will make it mandatory for buildings to have their own disposal system,” Sawkar said, adding that existing buildings will also be sent notices asking them to create a solution to the problem.
“We too have a responsibility of helping society maintain cleanliness and dry waste will be collected from all wards, just like we are collecting it presently,” Sawkar said.
The number of buildings in Borim panchayat jurisdiction is increasing, but there is no proper system to dispose the wet garbage.
Offering solutions to the growing problem of wet garbage, the locals requested the panchayat to have a micro disposal plant with the help of ZP funds. ZP Dipak Naik Borkar, who was present, assured to help the villagers.
Sawkar also informed the locals that water tanks will be provided to crematoriums at Tishem and Taribhat. “People had demanded that water be provided in the crematoriums. Hence, we have decided to fulfill the demand,” he said.
The panchayat has also decided to keep a check on illegal constructions in the village. “There are many illegal constructions taking place. We will inspect them and ask for their documentation,” Sawkar said.
The panchayat also assured doctors at the health center. The villagers had demanded that doctors be available on a daily basis. Even an ambulance service will be asked for from the government.
