The left main canal of the Tirali Dam suppling water to Maharashtra and Goa developed a huge crack at Maneri Dhangarwadi on Sunday, resulting in the breach of the canal. After the canal was breached the flowing water entered nearby fields and plantations and affected water supply to North Goa.
In the last 30 years, crores of rupees have been spent on repairs but nothing has been done on the site.
It is learnt maintenance on the canals of the Tilari Dam is being ignored for years.
