BSNL mobile and internet services in homes, government offices and establishments have been disrupted since the past three days in many parts of Sattari taluka, after BSNL cables were damaged during work to lay underground power lines in Sattari taluka
An officer of the BSNL filed a complaint in the matter with the Valpoi police on Saturday, stating that BSNL had incurred a loss of about Rs 9 lakh and had demanded compensation from the contractor.
The work to lay underground power lines is going on on a warfooting in different parts of Sattari taluka.
In many places, BSNL company cables have been cut in a number of places in Valpoi municipality, and along the Valpoi-Thane road, Valpoi-Khotoda road, and Valpoi-Nagargao road.
As a result, mobile network and internet services of BSNL have been badly affected in Sattari taluka for three days.
While briefing media persons, a BSNL official said work to lay the underground power cables is being done at night.
“The cables are cut at night but information about the damage is not being provided by the contractor to the BSNL, due to which BSNL has been facing a lot of inconvenience for the last two months,” said the BSNL officer.
“We have already demanded compensation from the contractor. In today's era, internet and mobile services have become very important. Due to the disruption of internet facilities, homes, establishments, government offices, and bank services have been affected badly.”
“Hence, BSNL has demanded that a case be booked against the contractor,” the BSNL officer added.
