MARGAO
All roads led to Sirvodem in the jurisdiction of Margao police station as hundreds of dhirio lovers from far and wide assembled to witness a bull fight on Friday evening.
While the Margao Police claimed that no bull fight took place at the venue, sources said that the bulls indeed locked horns right under the nose of the men-in-uniform. While a local bull is believed to have won the battle, Margao PI Kapil Nayak told the media that the bull fight did not take place in view of police force deployed at the venue.
Sources, however, said that though two Police Control Room (PCR) vans and a jeep from the Margao police with policemen were stationed at the venue, the bull fight indeed took place as scheduled.
What’s interesting to note is that the bull fight has taken place despite prior information conveyed to the men-in-uniform by some people that the dhirios may take place at Sirvodem grounds on Friday.
One of the police official maintained that the organisers might have taken advantage of the deployment of police force for law and order duties in view of the day-long strike by the tourist taxi operators.
Incidentally, PI Kapil Nayak told the media that no offence could be registered against any person or the bull owners for the simple reason that there’s no credible information that the bull fight took place at Sirvodem on Friday evening.
