Bus rams into tanker at Loliem
CANACONA: Several passengers escaped unhurt after an inter-state KTC bus hit a tanker at Tamnem-Loliem on Friday.
According to reports, the driver of the KTC bus (GA-03-X-0227), which was proceeding from Margao to Gokarn-Karnataka, sustained minor injuries as the bus hit the oncoming tanker (KA-01-AE-2751) at a slight turn at Tamnem-Loliem.
Except for the sudden jolt, no passengers from the bus suffered any injuries, but the front side of the KTC bus was badly damaged, while the tanker also had some damage on the driver's side.
Traffic was blocked for over an hour, before both the vehicles were moved, after the intervention of police and fire services personnel.
Meanwhile, few private buses stayed off the road on Friday fearing rumours of stoning the buses due to the strike call.
Some passengers were stranded for a few hours, especially in the morning, as buses plied after delayed interval especially on national route. Public transportation on internal roads was also partly effected, with a few private buses staying off the road, but no untoward incident was reported from anywhere in the taluka.
