Tree fall blocks traffic in Canacona
CANACONA: A jack-fruit tree fell on the road blocking highway traffic at Char-Rasta on Friday.
According to fire services sources, the tree fell at about 11 am with one of its branch completely blocking the NH17 road near Manglorean hotel at Char-Rasta. Atleast two vehicles including a two-wheeler proceeding in opposite directions missed coming under the falling tree by a whisker. While most heavy traffic was halted on either sides, some impatient vehicles tried to cross over, putting the life of occupants in dangers, informed residents.
According to nearby residents, a KTC bus inspite of warning nearly fell on its side while it tried to cross the road, which was almost totally blocked by the tree.
Fire personnel cleared the tree before fully restoring the highway traffic after more than an hour of traffic block.
