Orissa native held with drugs

BICHOLIM: Bicholim Police arrested a 28-year-old native of Orissa on charges of possessing ganja worth Rs 60,000 near Government College, Sakhali.

According to Bicholim Police, the accused, Deelipkumar Lenga, residing in a rented house at Harvalem, was involved in drugs trafficking since last many days.

“Acting on a tip-off, a trap was laid and the accused was arrested on Thursday at about 9 pm. Ganja weighing 1.48 kgs worth Rs 60,000 was recovered from him,” said the police.

The raid was conducted by PSI Rohan Madgaonkar, HC Sakharam Gaonkar and PCs Randhir Bale, Deepak Patre, Sandesh Kepkar and driver Amit Sherlekar under the guidance of PI Narayan Chimulkar and DySP Ramesh Gaonkar. The accused has been remanded to one-day police custody by JMFC Bicholim.

Meanwhile, Bicholim PI Narayan Chimulkar has called upon people to inform the police if they come across a person or a group possessing ganja. “Names of the informer will be kept secret,” said Chimulkar.
