PONDA
While the traffic police in Ponda has been busy penalising motorists for not wearing helmets or fastening their seat belts to mark the safety week, they are yet to penalise buses making unauthorised halts in the city.
Buses in Ponda city have been making unauthorised stops from the exit point of the old bus stand to Tisk-Ponda and also at Upper Bazar, causing traffic congestion in the city and traffic facing problem.
Even the home guards deployed at old bus stand are not seen prohibiting the bus drivers, from making unauthorised stops.
Though the GenNext had raised the issue several times, no action has been taken against the violators.
GenNext President Durgadas Kamat said he would take the matter seriously and would complain to higher authorities in this connection.
When contacted, the traffic cell policemen at Farmagudi said they are presently busy with the drive and can’t take any action against the buses.
When reminded that buses have been creating a blockade in the city throughout the day, traffic police voiced helplessness in the matter and repeated that they could not do much in the matter.
