Goa businesses have a limited window to improve the economics of solar energy adoption, industry leaders and policymakers said at Solar Tech 2026, a conclave organised by Panaji-based solar energy company Sun360.
The event brought together policymakers, energy experts, technology firms and industrial consumers to discuss renewable energy, energy independence and ways to reduce power costs.
Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) Chairman Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco said the State offered cost-effective and sustainable opportunities for solar energy and urged stakeholders to make use of available subsidies.
GEDA Member Secretary Sanjeev Joglekar highlighted initiatives under the Goa State Solar Policy 2026 and urged businesses to use incentives before the December 31 deadline. He said Goa aims to achieve 100 per cent renewable energy use across all sectors by 2050.
Discussions also covered battery storage, solar-diesel generator integration, peak-demand cost reduction, safety standards and grid approvals. Sun360 founder Anish Sousa stressed the need for energy self-sufficiency amid uncertain global energy markets.
