Aggrieved residents of Cacra, Santa Cruz on Tuesday gheraoed the office of the chief engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD) at St Inez to protest against the inadequate water supply to their area.
A group of over 10 locals complained that despite their best efforts of trying to apprise the authorities concerned of their problems, the issue was not looked into.
“It has been over a month since we have not received water. How are we supposed to sustain ourselves if there is no water supply?” questioned the residents who had come with empty pots and buckets in the PWD office.
They also claimed the department officials behaved in a dictatorial manner, which ultimately forced the residents to demonstrate at the PWD office.
Locals also forced the Chief Engineer to take stock of the situation and took the official to the area to inspect the possible reason for the stoppage in water supply.
