The villagers at a special gram sabha of Calangute on Sunday decided to challenge the Outline Development Plan (ODP) for Calangute before the High Court.
The locals said that prominent hills of Bom Viage and Baga have been painted red by the TCP which will be destructive to the village.
"What the present ODP seeks to do is un-planned and haphazard development in Calangute. We want sustainable development in the village and therefore reject this ODP," said Premanand Diukar, a local.
He said the government has failed to provide basic necessities like water, electricity and proper roads for the villagers but want to bring mega projects through this haphazard development.
Calangute Sarpanch Joseph Sequeira said there was no point in pointing fingers at others but will save whatever is left of Calangute.
The gram sabha unanimously decided to file a petition in the High Court against the ODP.
