Former Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president, Girish Chodankar, was named "Permanent Invitee" to the Congress Working Committee (CWC) in a rejig of the party's highest decision making body announced on Sunday.
Chodankar had relegated himself to the political background for over a year since resigning been as GPCC president following the 2022 Assembly poll debacle. Known to be close to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, he had recently been appointed co-incharge of the party affairs in poll-bound Telengana.
He is one of 18 'permanent invitees' to the CWC which also has an additional 14 leaders who are State in-charges named as 'permanent invitees'. MP Shashi Tharoor and Rajasthan leader Sachin Pilot are the prominent new comers in the CWC.
