Cracking down against dumping of waste in the open, Calangute panchayat imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on a restaurant owner for dumping garbage in the open by the roadside in the beach village.
Calangute Sarpanch Joseph Sequeira informed that the waste dumped at the roadside at Tinto belonged to ‘Typsy’, a restaurant located on the Calangute beach. The panchayat then issued a fine of Rs 25,000 against the restaurant owner who paid the amount.
Sequeira has made an appeal to keep the area clean.
