The Chemists and Druggists Association, Goa, has knocked on the doors of the South Goa District Collector to take all possible actions against all online sale of medicine and activities carried out by persons/entities in India and the irrational and illegal advertisements issued by such persons, besides courier companies engaged in delivering such medicines.
A delegation of the association submitted a memorandum signed by the state president Albert De Sa and state Secretary Lyndon D’Silva to the District Collector on Tuesday demanding action against the online sale of medicine and other activities.
The memorandum drew attention of the Collector to the interim order passed by the Bombay High Court on a PIL to submit status report on action taken against persons/entities involved in online sale of medicines by the government of Maharashtra through departments concerned.
It was pointed out that a notification was published dated August 28, 2018, for registering of objections, giving 45 days time to the stakeholders. “We have registered our objections. This Act of Central government proclaims that the law/rules have not been provided in the Drugs Act/Rules for online sale of medicine,” the memorandum said.
