Calls from Goans flood top cop’s office in Belagavi

The Belagavi Police Commissioner’s office was flooded with calls from Goans on Tuesday, to enquire about the stolen vehicles which were recovered by Belagavi police on Monday.

BELAGAVI

CPI B R Gaddekar and officials investigating the car theft case told The Goan that owners of cars from different parts of Goa who had lost their cars kept on calling throughout the day to inquire about the vehicles recovered.
“Apart from calling the landline number of the commissioner’s office, owners of cars also contacted me and my colleagues giving details about their stolen vehicles. We have noted the details given by the owners. However, as the stolen vehicles from Goa that have been brought to Belagavi probably were being sold or leased out with fake documents, we will be able to identify the real owner only after Goa police establishes the identity of owners based on the chassis number of the vehicles,” CPI Gaddekar said.
“In the meanwhile, owners who have lost their vehicles are free to meet us,” he added.
