As per the calculations worked out by govt officials, large-scale sports and cultural events are expected fetch Rs 75 lakh while small cultural events may net nearly Rs 12 lakh a year. The other avenues for revenue generation include sports academy and small scale events. Additionally, a part of the revenue generation would be through pay parking for four and two-wheelers and rent from restaurants and offices.
The entire project would be developed in six phases, starting with removal and disposal of the existing garbage at Campal parade ground.
“The compacted value of the existing garbage is 30,000 cubic metres. Presently it is being excavated and put in the rotary trammel for sorting the garbage. This is being carried out by Blackberry Overseas Pvt Ltd at a cost of Rs 55 lakh,” informed an official of Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA).
The recovered soil would be mixed with new soil and used to raise the ground level by 40 cms, while the separated non-recyclable waste would be baled and sent by Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) to cement factory in Karnataka.
In the second phase, RCC piling will be taken up, which is the laying of foundation for pavilion building at a cost of Rs 5 crore. Though both these phases will be taken up simultaneously, disposal of waste will be completed in five months, while laying of foundation for pavilion building completed in three months.
“Six separate tenders will be floated for six phases to minimise the cost of the project. The tender for the third phase is in the process of finalisation,” said the official.
In the fourth phase, the playfield as per FIFA standards, will be developed at a cost of 1.73 crore. In the fifth phase, a high mast lighting will be taken up. Additionally, a temporary seating arrangement with a capacity of 4500 will also be put up at the stadium.
