Camurlim for registration of vehicles based on parking space

MARGAO

The Camurlim gram sabha on Sunday has resolved to write to the government to enact a law wherein citizens will be permitted to register a vehicle only after he/she shows parking space for the vehicles.

The meeting chaired by Sarpanch Basil Fernandes deliberated at length on the parking issue after it was brought to the notice of the panchayat body that vehicles are being parked along the roads in violation of rules. During the discussion, some of the members demanded to know how a bus which was destroyed in a fire incident is still lying on the road.

After much discussion, the sarpanch said the panchayat would write to the government to enact a legislation wherein only those citizens who show parking space may be allowed to register a vehicle. The gram sabha also deliberated at length on the issue of garbage menace plaguing the village. Agitated villagers pointed out that leasing out of rooms to tenants have contributed to the waste problem in the village in a big way.

They demanded to know from the sarpanch whether the panchayat is imposing any tax on the landlords who have leased out their premises to the tenants and whether the landlords pay the one month-rent to the local body as per rules.

After much discussion, it was decided that the panchayat would conduct a survey of the rented premises along with the police to find out whether the landlords have filled up the tenant verification forms.
