Abhay Pednekar was elected unopposed as new deputy Sarpanch of Camurlim.
Pednekar was declared elected as only one application was filed before the presiding officer at the special meeting held to elect the deputy sarpanch of the village panchayat. Six panch members “ Vishant Gaonkar, Divya Parab, Sandhya Naik, Tushar Naik, Bhiku Pednekar and Dasharath Halankar “ were present for the meeting.
The election was necessitated as the post of deputy sarpanch was lying vacant since January 25. The official of BDO, Manohar Parwar was the presiding officer for the meeting and he was ably assisted by panchayat secretary Manjita Phadte. The Camurlim panchayat also owes allegiance to former BJP MLA, Kiran Kandolkar.
