Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said that the state government will leave no stone unturned to fight the battle against Karnataka over Mhadei tangle, in the Supreme court. He said all violations committed by Karnataka on the Kalsa-Bhanduri project would be brought to the notice of the Supreme court.
The Sawant-led government has been drawing flak from the opposition in the State for its alleged failure to protect Goa’s interest in the Mhadei river water dispute.
Goa has filed a special leave petition challenging the award of Mahadayi Water Disputes Tribunal, the hearing of which will take place in July. The Chief Minister said that the Goa government would also approach various concerned Ministries such as Environment, Forest and Climate Change with objections to permissions granted to Karnataka for going ahead with the work at Kalsa-Bhandura project. PANAJI: MGP leader and former Public Works Minister Sudin Dhavlikar has demanded joint inspection of the disputed Kalasa-Bhandura project site in presence of central minister, central government officials, ministers and officials from Karnataka, Maharastra and Goa.
Sudin also criticised former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and also Digamber Kamat for not taking appropriate steps to safeguard Goa’s interest in Mhadei issue.
