The Canacona BJP Mandal swiftly got into action and hurriedly called press briefing early Thursday morning after Tawadkar was called to Panaji by State and Central leadership of the party for discussion. BJP Karyakartas and Block executive leaders addressed the media outside the BJP office and even displayed their resignation letters, if any negative decision comes against Tawadkar.
Mandal president Mahesh Naik said: “We are still in a suspense as to how the party leadership can dilly-dally in declaring ticket to our leader Tawadkar.” “It’s due to Tawadkar that Lotus has bloomed in Canacona, strengthening our organisation not only in activities but reaching out government schemes to all. We have no words but even a mere delay in declaration of ticket to Tawadkar is a great injustice,” said Naik.
Stating that the Mandal blocks including Yuva and Mahila have kept their resignations ready, block vice-president Sanjay Komarpant said: “We are strongly behind Tawadkar and we will not work with anyone else, if Tawadkar’s nomination is not announced.”
Mahila president Vinda Satarkar said: “The unnecessary injustice to our leader is not in keeping with our party functioning. We are not ready to leave our leader Tawadkar. We will not work with anyone else but wholeheartedly work only for Tawadkar in this election.”
Tawadkar asks party workers to be
patient, not to get disheartened
CANACONA: Asking the party workers not to get disheartened over delay in announcement of party ticket for Canacona, Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar said the rising concerns of the Karyakartas over the delay in declaration of his nomination by party high command was indeed a matter to ponder.
A large number of BJP Karyakartas, who were eagerly waiting for the outcome of results of Tawadkar’s sudden visit to Panaji, had assembled outside BJP Block office at Chaudi on hearing the news that the minister invited the media to make an announcement.
Tawadkar addressed the media saying he was doing so to thwart any doubt in Karyakartas’ mind arising due to constant delay by party in making the announcement.
“Party leaders have informed me that the announcement would be made on Friday and I want to tell all BJP Karyakartas not to get disheartened, as being a worker of the party, I am also going through the same feeling. There is nothing to worry. But I want to assure our Karyakartas that I will not leave them,” said Tawadkar.
“I was called at Panaji on Thursday, where assurance was given that announcement would be made on Friday. Our block or constituency never lagged behind at organizational level nor development front.”
