The Canacona Senior Citizens Forum organized a felicitation ceremony for its member, Ashokkumar U Desai, President of the Canacona Journalists Association and a retired headmaster, on the occasion of his birthday. The Forum's President, Glen Martins, felicitated Desai for his dedicated hard work, unwavering commitment, and significant contributions to society.
Speaking on the occasion, Martins said that such gatherings among senior citizens ‘group serve as a platform for the forum to celebrate important milestones, share life experiences, and honour the continued contributions of its members.
He further added that the main purpose of this event was to acknowledge and honour the tireless work and positive impact on society of a senior colleague on his birthday. Such events encourage many to understand that retirement is not the end, but an opportunity to re-engage with enthusiasm and contribute significantly towards the society.
Replying to the felicitation, Ashokkumar Desai said that such events underscore the importance of recognizing the continued value and contributions of senior citizens, appreciating their life journeys and achievements.
He also highlighted the work of the Forum's President, Glen Martins, who is an honest and renowned senior officer of a five-star hotel and has extensive experience in administrative work abroad.
The event was attended by SY Nayak (Retired Principal, Navodaya Vidyalaya), Madhukar V Desai, Aruna Desai, Dilkhush Desai, Natividade D'Sa, Satish V Bhat, Valerian Viegas and other prominent senior citizens of the forum.
