CANACONA: People celebrated Holi at Palolem beach and elsewhere in Canacona taluka on Thursday.

The entire Canacona taluka erupted in Holi celebrations, with several groups exchanging colours and drenching themselves in the water.

The celebrations at Palolem beach included over 500 young and old people converging around a fire in the middle, before they jumped into the sea. Palolem councillor Dayanand Pagui led the celebrations at Palolem and a many foreign tourists joined the group.

Similar sights were observed elsewhere in the taluka, with youth dancing to the rhythm of Rang Barse played on music systems installed in the open.

Earlier in the day, many temples across the taluka were visited by devotees to pay obeisance to God before joining the Holi celebrations.

According to sources, several late night parties are scheduled in some isolated locations across the taluka. A starred hotel also hosted Holi revelries during the day-long celebrations in its premises which also extended onto the Rajbag beach.

PANAJI There are 41,316 cases pending in lower courts in Goa with a bulk of these cases, or around 65 per cent in various courts in North Goa as on December 31, 2015. This was revealed by Minister for Law Francis D’Souza to a listed question in the Assembly asked by Curtorim legislator Aleixo Lourenço.
