The liquor traders had convened a meeting of the association at Chaudi-Canacona on Sunday, which was also attended and addressed by All Goa Liquor Traders (Bars & Restaurants) Association of Goa president Dattaprasad Naik, secretary Anju Simepurushkar and Adv Amit Paleykar.
Explaining various measures, including legal steps taken and initiated by the association to deal with the apex court order, the state level association members asked all the affected and non-affected liquor traders to remain united and ready to launch an agitation,
if required.
“But let the new government take over. After reviewing the steps taken by the State government, we will plan our agitation. Right now, we have to come together and stand united. Those who had not joined as members of the association should enroll without any further delay,” requested
Durgadas Naik.
Simepurushkar said: “We also plead for all to come on one platform. If the non-affected tries to remain aloof thinking it’s not their concern, it will not help us fight strongly against the Supreme
Court order.”
Liquor traders from in and around Canacona taluka attended the meeting and vowed to fight till the end to drop
the order.
Gokuldas Naik was elected as president of Canacona branch of Liqour Traders Association, while Abel Barretto is the secretary.
