In a new twist to the Raheja tangle, two pancha members have now claimed that the Carmona panchayat has passed the revised site plan of the Mumbai-based realtor by ignoring their plea to place the plan before the village gram sabha.
Panch members, including former sarpanch Lavita Dias and Prisco Rodrigues, pointed out that the panchayat headed by sarpanch Sandra Fernandes, has accepted Raheja’s site plan by a majority vote by ignoring their plea to place the site plan before the gram sabha.
“I had argued at the meeting that the Raheja site plan should not be passed in haste, but to instead place the same before the gram sabha since the matter is sub judice,” Prisco told The Goan on Sunday.
He pointed out that the Raheja site plan was passed by a majority by disregarding his demand to place the site plan at the gram sabha.
Former sarpanch Lavita Dias said she had demanded that the panchayat place the site plan before the gram sabha since the matter is sub judice, but added that the body passed the plan by a majority vote.
When The Goan contacted sarpanch Sandra Fernandes to shed light on the claims made by the two panch members, she said there was no question of the panchayat placing the Raheja site plan before the gram sabha on the plea that the matter is sub judice since there’s no stay by the high court on gram proceedings concerning Raheja. She further pointed out that the panchayat has accepted the Raheja site plan since the plan now makes a mention of the cross and the well, which was not shown in the plan.
“The question of placing the site plan before the gram sabha did not arise since the revised site plan now makes a mention of the well as well as the cross,” she pointed out.
