A large number of people gathered for a candlelit protest meet at Aldona on Monday, to demand justice for the teenaged girl who was found found dead under mysterious circumstances at Calangute beach.

The meeting was attended by the teenager’s family, social workers, political leaders including Rahul Mhambre, Mickky Pacheco, Adv. Carlos Ferrara, Kiran Kandolkar, Sabina Martins, Rajendra Korgaonkar.

Addressing the protest meet, the girl’s mother demanded to know why the police had not acted on time, after she was reported missing.

Adv Ferreira expressed suspicion in the manner in which the body was found at Calangute beach.

Sabina Martins expressed disappointment over the circulation of the victim's pictures on social media and appealed to everyone to act more responsibly.

Kandolkar claimed that the government and police was incapable of protecting its own people.

“Why was there a rush for an autopsy and to hand over the body over to family? Police did this under pressure to safeguard one particular person from Siolim. Locals demand justice and hence, government should handle this case to the CBI," said Kandolkar.

Former minister Mickky Pacheco also demanded justice for the victim's family.

Walter Lobo, Rama Kandolkar, Shankar Polji, Rajendra Korgaonkar also expressed their views at the protest meet.
