The Niz Goemkar Revolutionary Front has demanded the resignation of Ministers if they cannot independently handle the affairs of the State rather than giving control of the State to an Union Minister.
Addressing the media, Front Advisor John Philip and spokesperson Chandrashekar Vast said the meeting of Minister for Surface Transport, Shipping and Water Resources, Nitin Gadkari with officials of Goa State Pollution Control Board, Chief Secretary and Director of Mines, besides a couple of Ministers of Goa, is highly condemnable. “This meeting proves that none of our bureaucrats are capable of handling the affairs of the State and have to depend on Central Ministers at non-official meeting venues to decide the fate of the State,” the duo said.
Reminding that the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) is an autonomous statutory body, they said none of the Ministers/bureaucrats can interfere with the functioning of the pollution body, which is created for the people of the State. “If the bureaucrats cannot do their duties, they should resign and sit at home rather than compromising on the responsibilities entrusted to them by the people of Goa,” John Philip said.
“If need be, we the people of Goa can assist the bureaucrats if they (officials) are threatened by any Minister or other mafia. And, if the bureaucrats come openly and call upon the people, than we will stand by them to safeguard the rights of the people,” Vast said, while saying that the local Ministers have compromised the Goem and Goemkarponn to these Central Ministers for their own selfish gains.
John Philip said it is a sham on these Ministers to even be present and discuss the State issues on mining and pollution which is out of Gadkari’s portfolio, saying ‘Niz Goemkars are watching and will fight for justice to the people of Goa’.
