Car destroyed in fire
BICHOLIM: Five members of a family from Warkhand-Pernem escaped unhurt, when the car in which they were travelling caught fire at Velguem-Pale on Sunday afternoon.
Bicholim fire personnel rushed to the spot, but by the time they reached the site, the car was totally destroyed in the fire. The car owner has suffered damages of around Rs 3.5 lakh.
According to sources from Bicholim fire brigade, John D’Souza was travelling from Bicholim to Velguem-Pale in his car (GA-07-C-7948), when it caught fire. When D'Souza noticed the fire, he stopped the car and he along with his family got out of the vehicle.
D'Souza informed the matter to Bicholim fire office, who rushed to the site and brought the fire under control. Bicholim ASFO Atchut Dhawaskar, HC Dnyneshwar Gawas, driver Damodar Rao, firemen Richard Trinade and Manoj Salgaonkar rushed to the site and brought the fire under control.
