The controversial regional Plan 2021 came under strong objection from the gram sabha of Cavelossim panchayat on Sunday with members demanding the immediate scrapping of the plan and preparation of a new plan by taking the stake holders into confidence
The central government’s ‘Adopt a Heritage scheme’ was also opposed by the gram sabha.
The issue on the draft notification concerning CRZ also came up for discussion, wherein it was decided to call for a special gram sabha to hear the views of the villagers and take appropriate action.
At the Sunday gram sabha chaired by Sarpanch Dennis Dias, members raised the issue of the controversial RP 21, demanding the immediate scrapping of the plan and formulation of a new plan.
Gram sabha members drew the attention of the Sarpanch to the host of resolutions adopted by the gram sabha in the past concerning the Regional Plan and asked the panchayat body to send all the resolutions to the government for action.
Sarpanch Dennis told the media after the meeting that the gram sabha members made a request to call a special gram sabha to discuss the draft CRZ notification since they want to take a decision after discussing the issue threadbare and taking into account the ground reality.
He pointed out the special gram sabha has been called since nearly 70 per cent of Cavelossim village falls under the CRZ.
The Sarpanch also placed the budget estimates for the current financial year as the gram sabha gave its nod for the Rs 1.83 crore budget. The annual plan, financial statements and other reports were also placed before the gram sabha.
The long standing issue of opening the beach accesses also came up for discussion and the Sarpanch explained the members the steps initiated by the panchayat body in this respect.
