Dennis along with the newly-elected panchayat members called on local MLA Churchill Alemao seeking his help and co-operation to take up developmental projects in the village. “This is a new panel comprising of all new faces. This change in the panchayat has been brought about by the people of Cavelossim since they were unhappy with the previous body. We will take up developmental projects in the village and for this reason, we need the MLA’s help and support,” he said.
Asked to outline the priorities of the new panchayat body, Dennis pointed out that while the panchayat will provide a clean and transparent administration, efforts will be made to look into the required infrastructure, including the major hurdle of hotmixing of village roads.
He said the panchayat will also take up the long-pending demand of the local residents to open up the beach accesses blocked by the hotels. “Villagers have been facing hardships as the accesses to the beaches remain closed. The new panchayat body will look into the matter,” he said.
Local Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao assured his full support to the Cavelossim panchayat to usher in the development of the village, including construction of the Panchayat Ghar. He sought cooperation of the panchayat body to resolve the problem of sanitation and boat docking at Mobor.
