The Crime Branch (CB) sleuths busted a fake call centre in Panaji’s outskirts area and caught six persons. The accused, all hailing from Ahmedabad and Nagaland, duped several US nationals by zeroing-in on random US-code numbers. The fraudsters called them on pretext of approving loans, medical bills, etc.
“Our team raided the fake call centre and arrested the six persons. We have also seized six laptops, mobile phones and other articles, all worth Rs 10 lakh approx. Legal action has been initiated against them,” CB SP Nidhin Valsan told reporters.
The accused are identified as Akash Pancholi, aged 28 years, Thremho and Sanam Bathari, both aged 23 years, Anand Sengyung (26), Lairim Johai (19) and Hemring Girisa (22). Further investigation is on.
